Snakes

Of all the creatures wandering across planet earth today, it is the snake that has perhaps the deepest and most complex relationship with mankind and human society. Whether you look at the ancient Greeks, who revered the snake as a symbol of healing, or the early Christians, who often saw in the snake a symbol of evil and underhandedness, the snake has enjoyed (or some might say "endured") a unique relationship with mankind that defies easy explanation.

Why are people so fascinated with snakes? Why do snakes capture our imagination the way they do? Why do some people instinctually fear snakes, while others may inherently be drawn to them? These are a few of the questions we hope to shed light on here, for we believe that snakes are special. The reason is elusive, but it is undeniable that they are special. Too often they are feared, but in many places and at many times they have been revered. Our hope is that through this website we can share some of the reasons we find snakes so fascinating, and in the process perhaps help people get a better understanding of these wonderful and mysterious creatures.
